AI Training in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene for Owners and Staff

Your team is probably already using ChatGPT, with or without a plan. We teach them to use it well, use it safely, and stop pasting things into it that should never leave the building.

TechFort provides hands-on AI training for small and mid-sized businesses in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Coeur d'Alene, and Post Falls. We teach owners and employees to use ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and Google Gemini on their real work, cover safe use and what data never goes into an AI tool, and help you write a short company AI policy. Classes run at your office or remotely, taught by a local IT company that builds with these tools every day.

Why AI training, and why now

Here is the honest situation in most offices right now: somebody on your team is already using an AI tool. Maybe it is the office manager rewriting emails in ChatGPT, or a project lead summarizing contracts with whatever free tool showed up first. Nobody approved it, nobody set rules for it, and nobody showed them how to get good results from it.

That leaves you with two problems at once. The people using AI are getting half the value they could, because nobody taught them how. And some of what they paste into those tools, customer names, account numbers, internal documents, probably should not be there. Banning AI rarely works; people just stop telling you. Training works.

We are not a training company that read about AI. TechFort is a Spokane Valley IT company that builds real software with AI-assisted development, including the staff intranets, portals, and private AI tools running today for businesses like yours. We teach what we use, and we are blunt about where these tools fall short.

What we cover

AI Literacy for Employees, Built Around Your Work

Every class is built from the tasks your team actually does. A law office and a construction company should not get the same class.

1

ChatGPT for business

Writing and rewriting emails, quotes, job descriptions, and policies. Summarizing long documents. Turning messy notes into a clean first version. Where it is strong, where it makes things up, and how to tell the difference.

2

Microsoft Copilot

If you already run Microsoft 365, Copilot is probably the first AI tool your staff will touch. We show what it does inside Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, and which features your current licenses actually include before anyone buys an add-on.

3

Claude and Google Gemini

Different tools are better at different jobs. Claude is strong with long documents and careful writing; Gemini lives inside Google Workspace. We teach whichever tools fit your business, not the one with the biggest ad budget.

4

Prompting that works

Not tricks. How to give an AI tool the context, the example, and the format you want, so the first answer is usable instead of generic. Every exercise uses your real work, not a canned demo.

5

Safe use and data rules

What never goes into a chatbot: passwords, customer files, health or financial records, anything under a confidentiality agreement. The difference between a free personal account and a business account, and which settings to check.

6

Checking the output

AI tools state wrong answers with total confidence. Staff learn a simple habit for verifying facts, numbers, and citations before anything leaves the building.

Safe use and your company AI policy

The part most AI classes skip is the part that protects your business. Every TechFort class includes the ground rules, and we help you put them in writing. A useful small business AI policy is short. It answers four questions:

  • Which tools are approved? Name them. "Use the business Copilot account, not your personal ChatGPT login" is a rule people can follow.
  • What never goes in? Passwords, customer files, health and financial records, anything covered by a confidentiality agreement or a contract.
  • Who checks the output? AI writes the first pass. A person reviews anything that goes to a customer, a court, a lender, or a regulator.
  • Who do you ask? One named person, so questions get answered instead of guessed.

If you carry cyber insurance, or your customers ask how you handle their data, a written AI policy is quickly becoming one of those documents you want on file before someone asks for it. We also check the settings on the accounts your team uses, because free personal AI accounts and business accounts treat your data differently.

AI also changed the phishing problem. The scam emails your staff see are now well written and personalized. Our security awareness training handles that side; AI training covers the tools your people use on purpose.

How it works

On-Site in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, or Remote

Pick what fits your team. A common starting point is one owner hour plus one team class.

Team class at your office

Hands-on, with laptops open, at your location in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Coeur d'Alene, or Post Falls. Built around the tasks your people do every week.

Remote classes

The same class over video, for remote staff or teams spread across locations. Recorded on request so new hires can watch it later.

Owner and manager one-on-one

A working hour with the decision makers: where AI could save time in your business, what it should not touch, and what to tell your staff.

Follow-up check-in

A few weeks later, once people have tried it on real work. This is where the useful questions show up, and where the habits stick.

What your team walks away with

  • Working skills on their own tasks. Not a slide deck about the future of work. Emails, summaries, and spreadsheets they can finish faster on Monday.
  • A starter prompt library. The prompts that worked in class, written down and shared, so nobody starts from a blank box.
  • A starter AI use policy. Short, plain English, and specific to the tools you approved.
  • Account settings checked. Business accounts where they belong, and data-sharing settings reviewed on the tools you use.
  • An honest list of what not to automate. Some jobs should stay with a person. We will tell you which ones.

Microsoft Copilot training for Microsoft 365 offices

Most small offices already run Microsoft 365, which makes Copilot the natural starting point. Microsoft changes Copilot's features and licensing often, so the first thing we do is look at what your accounts already include. Plenty of businesses are one setting away from tools they are already paying for, and some are about to buy add-on licenses nobody will use. We will tell you which group you are in before you spend anything. If we already manage your Microsoft 365, that check is quick.

When training is not the answer

Sometimes the right move is not a class. If the same task eats hours every week, the better answer may be a small custom tool that does it for you, like the self-serve office tools or the owner's dashboard we run today. That is AI consulting, not training, and we will say so if that is where the time savings are. In North Idaho? See AI training and AI help in Coeur d'Alene.

AI Training Questions

Do you offer AI training in Spokane at our office?

Yes. TechFort runs hands-on AI training at your office in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, and the surrounding area. We are based in Spokane Valley, so on-site classes are easy to schedule. Remote classes work too.

Which AI tools do you teach?

ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and Google Gemini. We start with whatever your business already pays for, because the cheapest AI tool is the one you already own.

Is it safe for employees to use ChatGPT at work?

It can be, with ground rules. The risk is not the tool, it is what people paste into it and which kind of account they use. Free personal accounts and business accounts handle your data differently. Training plus a short written AI use policy covers most of the risk.

Do we need a company AI policy?

If anyone on your team uses AI tools, yes, even if you never approved it. A one or two page policy that says which tools are allowed, what data never goes in, and who checks the output is enough for most small businesses. We help you write it as part of the training.

Is this for beginners?

Yes. Most classes start with people who have never used an AI tool, sitting next to people who use it every day. We teach to the room, in plain English, using your real work.

How much does AI training cost?

It depends on headcount, how many classes, and whether it is on-site or remote. The first conversation is free, and you get a fixed quote before anything is scheduled. There is no per-seat software to buy from us.
